Safe Landings

Why so early?  It's a question we get all the time.  We fly at sunrise, all balloonists do.  I would love to fly in the middle of the day, but the wind and thermals make that impossible.  You see, the sun heats the Earth during the day and where it gets really hot, the warm air rises.  That's called a thermal.  As the warm air rises, cooler air moves in to replace it from below.  That's thermally generated wind.  We need winds less than 7 mph to safely inflate and land the balloon, so we fly first thing in the morning before the sun causes thermals.  Calmer winds make for softer landings and that is always safer.  It's not something you're going to do every weekend.  Get up early if only this one time and enjoy the magic of ballooning!  We are ready to take your questions and book your flight.  Call today!  (845) 360-5594
